The annual symposium of IGLD (Interdisciplinary Group for Laboratory and Flow Cytometry) took place at Kap Europa and recorded almost twice as many congress participants as expected – a very satisfactory result!
Three questions for Prof. Klaus-Peter Hunfeld, one of the Congress Presidents of the annual symposium of INSTAND e.V., Düsseldorf, and IGLD (Interdisciplinary Group for Laboratory and Flow Cytometry), Medical Director of Frankfurt’s Krankenhaus Nordwest hospital and Frankfurt Congress Ambassador:
1. Congratulations on this perfect launch of the IGLD annual symposium. You expected 600 people but ended up with 1,000 registered congress participants. To what do you attribute this record participant count?
Prof. Hunfeld: Our event’s sophisticated content and highly professional speakers are, needless to say, instrumental in attracting participants. However, the Kap Europa venue and the ideal reachability of Frankfurt also made an important contribution to this success. People like coming to Frankfurt because it can be reached quickly and easily by any means of transport. And people simply like being in Kap Europa. The natural light, ambience and excellent acoustics all ensured that our participants felt very much at home there. As well as this, there was ample parking and an underground and suburban rail stop virtually on the doorstep – perfect! After the annual conference, we were also able to hold workshops in the University Hospital in Frankfurt – an unbeatable training package in a single location.
2. Your second key target group – exhibitors at your industrial exhibition – were very satisfied as well. What were the main factors contributing to this?
Prof. Hunfeld: As you might expect, our exhibitors were pleased to see so many participants turn up – and in such good spirits – and were able to forge many contacts and hold many interesting conversations. However, the ideal setting in Kap Europa played an important role for them too. With its generous foyer and flexible rooms, this was an ideal venue for holding the event and its industrial exhibition. Every exhibitor had the stand position they wanted and the highly professional Kap Europa team looked after all of their organisational needs.
3. You have been a Frankfurt Congress Ambassador since 2017. What experiences and ideas from your event do you draw on for this role? What would you like to share?
Prof. Hunfeld: It is even easier for me to make the case for Frankfurt am Main as an ideal venue now! The Frankfurt Convention Bureau and Messe Frankfurt provided valuable support as regards advertising, organisation and implementation. For innovative formats and fresh new training concepts with a scientific outlook and a modern approach to promoting up-and-coming talent, Frankfurt is perfect as a science and congress city and Messe Frankfurt in particular is a perfect location in this regard. Participants were full of praise – so we will definitely be here next year as well!
