This distinction – and with it the first prize awarded by the Live Entertainment Award Committee every year as part of the PRG Live Entertainment Awards – went to the Festhalle on 9 April 2018 in the category “Hall/Arena of the Year 2017”. Every year, the prestigious LEA Award pays tribute to outstanding performance in the field of Live Entertainment in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, also acknowledging the contribution of the “movers and shakers” and managers behind the scenes.
The deciding factors for the award in this category are, in addition to the originality of the design, the comfort and services provided by the building in question. As Uwe Behm, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, explains: “With its architecture and history, the Festhalle is without a doubt the most ‘emotional’ hall in Germany. Nowhere else do tradition and modernity come together in this special way while meeting all the requirements of a flexible, state-of-the-art event location. This is unique in Germany and a wonderful affirmation of the work done by our Festhalle team.” The spectrum of events held in this multifunctional hall every year is suitably diverse, ranging from concerts, congresses, product presentations, exhibitions, shows and gala dinners to international sporting events.
The gala event for the 13th PRG Live Entertainment Award, which was presented in 15 categories, was held for the eighth time in Messe Frankfurt’s Festhalle. This marks the official opening of Musikmesse, the international trade fair for music instruments, sheet music, music production and marketing (11-14 April) and event technology fair Prolight + Sound (10-13 April).
